Ace McCarron

LIGHTING DESIGN

Ace McCarron is a freelance lighting designer and has worked on a large range of operatic productions. He has been particularly associated with the stage productions of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, having been a member of his company, The Fires of London, and has lit a large number of other contemporary operas.

He has designed lighting for a large number of award-winning plays and musicals, working with directors such as John Doyle, Stephen Daldry, Jonathan Miller, Kenny Ireland, Annie Griffin and Howard Barker. His work in studio theatres includes lighting one-woman shows in Britain with both Estelle Parsons and Whoopi Goldberg.

Ace has recently completed two courses in creative writing, and has written a music theatre piece, The Howl in Arcadia, with composer Simon Thorne. Ace is currently developing, with composer Guy Harries, an operatic piece with Kameroperahuis in Zwolle, in the Netherlands.
